COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course introduces the basic elements of jazz improvisation. Students will be encouraged to develop their improvisational skills as well as their interplay abilities. The students will recognize the characteristic elements of jazz improvisation and develop a knowledge of jazz articulation and phrasing in different styles. The students will also develop knowledge of improvising on jazz standards and original compositions.
