A new Renaissance is about to start

AEF is ready to welcome students from September 21, 2020!

Palazzo Niccolini, AEF beautiful building, opens its doors to students and friends after the pandemic. at AEF, we believe that this worldwide crisis is also an opportunity to cultivate awareness, critical thinking and we are committed to design a meaningful experience for our students, faculty and staff. Classes will resume on September 21, when AEF will safely and responsibly welcome students in Florence, the city of Humanism and Renaissance.

Before arrival

Students will be offered an online orientation, including a virtual tour of the school, and will be able to reach the AEF Staff via email and telephone for any questions or doubts. AEF Team is fully committed and prepared to support students in their pre-departure process. All orientation sessions will include Italian Government and Regione Toscana guidelines on shared spaces and good hygiene practices. As the situation is constantly evolving, AEF will communicate any changes regarding rules and requirements.

Once in Florence

Welcome in town! Your learning experience in the city of Renaissance has just started: you will take your classes at Palazzo Niccolini, a 16th century building located a few steps away from the Duomo and all the main sights. Florence, a fully walkable city, will be your classroom during your immersion into the Italian culture. At AEF, we believe in a student-centered learning approach, and the whole team – teachers and staff – is committed to offer full support and guidance to students and help them grow intellectually, socially and emotionally.

Health and Safety

In collaboration with the agencies of the Italian Government, local authorities, the Association of American College and University Programs in Italy (AACUPI), and all our partner institutions, AEF developed specific health and safety measures concerning classes, activities, and students' life in Florence.


AEF follows the Italian government and the Regione Toscana guidelines in terms of hygiene and health:

  • Hand sanitizers will be available within the building;
  • Social distancing of at least 1 meter;
  • Wearing a mask is required while walking within the building;
  • On-site classes: AEF will refer to the Italian Ministero della Salute and Ministero della Cultura guidelines for activities, visits to museums and sites of interest.
