Made with croissant and cappuccino or more traditional with bread and jam, light with fruit and yogurt or with crunchy biscuits and honey. Every Italian eats breakfast their own way, but one thing is certain: breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
We have already told you how much Italians love coffee and how healthy and the Mediterranean diet nis in the world, but today we will tell you about an authentic Italian custom: Italian breakfast.
Forget the endless brunches or savory dishes full of fat, such as the famous eggs and bacon, which, although tasty, is unhealthy and indigestible: true Italians love having breakfast at the bar. It is a ritual in every respect: brioche in one hand, fresh newspaper in the other. All washed down with a creamy cappuccino - true connoisseurs drink it without sugar, while the sweet tooths soften it with hazelnut cream or cocoa powder. Alternatively, the must-have espresso coffee, the morning boost excellence.
Breakfast at the bar is an opportunity to get up and start the day on the right foot, between a chat with a colleague and fun banter with the barista. Even more so, on Monday morning, when the combination "cornetto and cappuccino" is always accompanied by detailed discussion on soccer matches of the previous day and the soccer league!
Those who love awakening at home, however, do not give up the famous Italian breakfast: bread, butter and jam (or the variant bread, butter and sugar). Together with bread, oil and salt or the famous bruschetta – with crushed tomatoes - is the typical snack of Italian grandmothers, a real and sweet energy booster, able to make us face a busy day with good humor.
The healthiest do not fail to include a fruit, orange juice or yogurt, to start the morning with freshness and vitamins. Again, cereals and biscuits with milk and coffee or dried biscuits with honey, a natural sweetener with many nutritive qualities.
You have seen that the Italian breakfast is mostly sweet. Yet the bravest will go for a ham and cheese toast, or another savory pleasure! How do you take your breakfast?
