
In chronological terms, the course documents the developments in Italian history from the end of the Napoleonic wars (1815) to the present day.
In the first section, the Risorgimento, the First World War, Fascism and the Second World War are examined, whereas the second section deals with the Republican era. In thematic terms, the course concentrates on several key concepts such as the nation and the colonialist shift, religion, the modern state and its foundations, the economy, society, geography, informal institutions, and the arts.
