John M. Pearson
John has had a distinguished career in International Education for over thirty years.
In his roles of Assistant Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Students at Richmond, the American International University in London John had specific responsibility for semester and yearlong study abroad programmes. His Student Affairs remit focused on the management and development of student leadership, orientation, student conduct, community relations, extra- curricular/co-curricular programming, and alumni affairs.
In 1998 John helped to found the Foundation for International Education (FIE), an International Education Organisation (IEO) based in London, with programmes located in Dublin, Ireland and Amman, Jordan. FIE grew rapidly to become one of London largest IEO’s with over twelve hundred students per year from over forty US universities and colleges.
As Senior Vice President for Operations and a member of FIE’s Senior Leadership Team John had overall responsibility for the direction and strategy of the organisation with a specific remit of several departments - Administration, I.T., Student Life, Residence Life, Human Resources, First Year Programmes, Ireland Programmes, and Institutional Relations. In his role as SVP John led FIE in developing and embedding its core values of Diversity and Inclusivity, Social Justice and Sustainability across the organisation, both inside and outside the classroom. John’s abiding philosophy is one of utilising Education to effect real change for a better world by teaching these essential human values. John left FIE in November 2020.
John has an abiding passion for the Arts in all its forms, and a huge respect for the many players who give expression to our humanity, and who provide deeper meaning and purpose to our existence.
