History and Culture of Photography

Description

The course retraces the main phases of the history of photography from its final origin to the contemporary age, investigating the different articulations in the documentary, artistic, communicational and vernacular fields.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students will be able to:
1. Know the main stages and authors of the history of photography;
2. Be aware of the historical importance of photographic media as a tool of modernity;
3. Know the various functions and languages of photography.
