1. Personal Statement

Your personal statement is a crucial component of your scholarship application, evaluated by our committee.

Please submit it in MS Word or PDF format, limited to 7,000 characters.

Ensure it is a cohesive essay, not a numbered list, addressing each of the four prompts below without a specific order:

How will studying at AEF contribute to your academic or professional goals?

Explain why you chose AEF and your selected program.

Choose one of AEF's core values (Respect, Community, Sustainability) and provide an example of how you embody it.

Discuss the skills, experiences, or knowledge you possess to navigate the challenges of studying in Florence at AEF

Certificate Program & Study Abroad Program

1. Personal Statement  

Your personal statement is a crucial component of your scholarship application, evaluated by our committee. Please submit it in MS Word or PDF format, limited to 7,000 characters. 2. Two Letters of Reference 

Reference letters are crucial for your scholarship application. Ideally sent as an email, they may also be in MS Word or PDF format. It's best if the referee has supervised you professionally or academically (e.g., work supervisors, professors), avoiding references from friends or family. For higher consideration, ask your referees to address these points: 

  • How long have you known the applicant? 

  • In what capacity do you know the applicant? 

  • Describe the applicant's work ethic and personal motivation. 

  • Provide an example of the applicant going above and beyond in achieving a goal or overcoming a challenge.

3. Program Specific Items  

For the students prioritizing performing arts courses at AEF, additional materials are required: 

Dance courses: Submit two short videos (3-5 minutes) of ballet or contemporary dance styles. 

Voice & Opera courses: Provide two short videos—one featuring an Italian Opera aria and another showcasing a piece from your repertoire. 

Drawing & Painting courses: Share five high-resolution professional pictures of your work.
