The major objective of the Studio Drawing Course is to educate the eye to observe a subject in detail, to understand its proportions, its planes and its volumes in order to aid the hand in acquiring sufficient expertise to depict it.
In the AEF’s classrooms, students have access to prints of drawings and plaster copies of some of the most important figurative works.
Once a student has achieved good manual skills, the course goes on to study of volumes and of chiaroscuro effects by introducing use of other media, such as sanguine chalk, sepia ink, charcoal, white chalk and ball-point pen.
The course is available on an individual basis: this formula allows the student to construct the program directly with the teacher and adapt it to his/her individual training needs.
