Opera Repertoire

Opera Repertoire Course

The Opera Repertoire Course entails the study of opera scores in all its aspects from solfeggio, phrasing, and accents to the direction of the line of singing, intonation, color and diction.
The aim is to recognize the languages – both compositional and formal – of the different composers in order to make an in-depth study of the dynamic variations, the “Messa di voce” (placing of voice), and the approaches to singing based on the personality of the characters.
Special focus is given to the expressive-vocal interpretation as this is closely linked to the words: in fact, the words that put themselves at the service of the sound and not vice-versa.
This course offers students the chance to increase their own vocal and artistic capacities by studying with a real corripetitore pianist (one who instructs the chorus singers of the opera) and connoisseur of the entire Italian opera repertoire, who collaborates with the most prestigious Italian theatrical institutions and the most famous international universities, as well as with professional singers acclaimed worldwide. The lessons will not merely be a moment of in-depth study, but also an occasion for gaining useful skills at a professional level.
The main topics of the course include operas with the Italian libretto starting from Mozart, through Bellini and Donizetti, and up to Verdi, Puccini and Mascagni.
